About us

Young Carers’ Crew (YCC) is an independent charity based in Stevenage that provides respite and support to young carers living in North Hertfordshire. The young carers are young people aged 8-18 that are primary or secondary carers for a member of their family.
We run fortnightly sessions and occasional outings where we hope they can ‘just be themselves’ and enjoy their time at the group.
YCC also aims to serve as a place for the young carers to get any support they may need from other young carers, or the volunteers at the group.

What we do

Sessions

Our fortnightly sessions allow the young carers to come and spend time with other young carers in a relaxed and safe environment. They can enjoy activities such as cooking, crafts, games and sports.

Outings

In addition to the sessions, we organise outings for the young carers throughout the year. These trips have included trips to London, the pantomime, trampolining, and even dragon boat racing! The trips make a nice change from the regular sessions.

Support

The group provides the young carers with an environment where they can talk to other young carers or the volunteers freely. This is a safe space for them, should they wish to discuss anything they’re going through, and get support if needed.

Christmas Tree Festival

We’ve put up a YCC themed Christmas tree for the Christmas tree festival in the Holy Saviour Church in Hitchin. We have some decorations made by the young carers themselves, and some amazing 3D printed ones too!
